ScrapFit Challenge #16

ScrapFit Challenge #16!

Time for Kelly’s “March Madness” Recipe Challenge
4 Circles (basketballs biggest month/ the final 4)
Multiple fonts (like all the teams have different names/logo’s)
2 pictures (because it comes down to the final game between KY and someone) Distressing (like the way all the teams will feel when they get beat by Kentucky).

I combine all of these elements onto my layouts all the time, but when someone challenges me to to do so, it suddenly becomes a struggle! Out of the blue, I became trapped….stuck…I fought to get things to come together. What’s up with that?! It really is a magnificent challenge. I was just over thinking it! Once I decided to just let go, things fell into place and I really had fun with it.

The prize for this challenge is another awesome kit by Life Preservers Kit Club!! Wohoo!! Vons kits are over flowing with scrappy goodness!!!

Next weekend the Design Team at ScrapFit will be "Springing in to Action!" We will be hosting a blog hop March 19th -21st! Hop on over and join us!! Lots of eye candy, prizes, and great inspiration!!

Catching up!!!

Wow!! Finally taking a quick minute to catch up!

I just love the masculine feel of the Dream Street papers in the February Alternate kit at Life Preservers. I’ve really enjoyed working on some teen boy layouts.

I created the tag by placing a rubon over a chipboard piece. I added an eyelet, threaded some floss through the eyelet, and attached to the knot with a safety pin! I used my sizzix die to cut the star from a cereal box. I spayed with Maya Road Mist and dabbed some Black Soot Distress Stickles found in the kit.

To add texture and go with the teen masculine look, I used the sizzix die to cut stars from denim and wire mesh.

Non kit items: Distress Ink, wire mesh, denim, eyelets, jute, snaps, chipboard letters (t & A), and thickers (S), brads,

I created this in an 8x8.

I put the Superstar rubon onto the rough side of a transparency and cut out. I dry brushed a little paint onto the backside to make it stand out a bit against the dark background papers. For the star, I cut the star from a cereal box and lightly covered with the Black Soot Distress Stickles found in the kit. When the stickles were dry I covered with a generous amount of Glossy Accents. After waiting for it to dry, I applied a second light coat of distress stickles. It gave some of the sparkles a bit of a floaty look!

Non kit items: Distress Ink, stitching, brads, cardboard, Making Memories paint, staples, Stampin’Up border punch, EK Success boarder punch, Cuttlebug embossing folder

I think these little faces are the cutest and would make a really fun card! They are rubons found in the kit! I put Glossy Accents over the faces to make them stand out.

Non kit items: Distress Ink, Glossy Accents

The star paper made me think of graduation. Although it seems that spring will never get here, the time will come before we know it!! This card has a little pocket inside just the right size for money or a gift card!

Non kit items: Distress Ink, floss, stitching

Non kit items: Distress Ink, Marker, EK Success border punch, alpha stickers, floss

ScrapFit Challenge #15

Scrapfit Challenge #15
Scrap yourself! This layout should be all about you! The title should read " A day in the life of..." or something quite similar with a small twist.

I added the twist to my title and changed day to moment.

I added Crackle Accents to the butterfly and chipboard button (flower center).

Using my cricut and Walk in My Garden cartridge, I cut the same flower in 5 sizes. Before layering them, I applied Distress ink to the edges, and Distress crackle paint to the petal tips. As the paint dried, the ink bled which added to the distress look. Turned out pretty cool, I think! I finished it off by layering and adding the chipboard button.

For the smaller flowers, I also cut flowers using Walk in My Garden cartridge in the cricut. This time I only cut two layers. Again, I inked the edges with distress inks. I hand cut a sloppy circle slightly larger than the flowers. Using the demin as the bottom layer, I stacked the paper flower layers on top and finished with a corduroy brad.

For a bit of texture and interest, I placed a few of the words on different color paper and attached them to the journaling with pop dots.

Sooo...I've got to tell you a quick secret about the photo...shhhh...don't tell on me though!! I was taking photos of my daycare kids when I ran to the mirror and took a couple quick shots of myself for the layout. I am wearing a ratty old sweatshirt with baby spit on the shoulder and eyeliner is the only makup I have on! I was pleasantly surprised with the shot concidering I was looking like a mess in the middle of a crazy day!

It is also my turn to create a challenge for the ScraFit Forum. I don't know about you, but I am very much in the mood for something springy! I found these fun papers from We R Memory Keepers and decided to create these cute little purses. They kind of remind me of Easter Baskets...maybe it is just the fun springy colors and patterns. Speaking of patterns....that is my March challenge to you! I want to see plaid and polka dot! You can create a layout, card or altered item....whatever you heart desires. My only requirement is a mix of plaid and polka dot! Have fun and don't forget to share!!

This little bee is a stamp the coordinates with the paper line. Isn't he adorable!!! I stamped onto yellow paper, added some stickles to the wings, and attached with a pop dot!

New Challenge Posted!!

Today is Feb 15th and that means it is time for a new challenge at ScrapFit!!

Challenge #14

The Power of One is what Workout #14 is all about!
You have to do a Monochromatic LO using either pink, red, white or black!

I, of course, chose pink!!

Reminder: click on any of the photos for a larger view!

I put a rub-on on the top of an acrylic piece then wrote the journaling with a Sharpie. I used light pink paint, and a mix of shades of Ranger Distress inks to color the back.

The key is a naked pieces from Bazzill that I covered with light pink paint from Making Memories. Once the paint was dry, I covered it with a variety of shades of Ranger Distress inks. The final step, covering the key with Distress Rock Candy paint.

To add some texture, I used the cuttlebug and embossed the acrylic flourishes from Bo Bunny.

I cut the flowers from pattern paper, inked the edges, and added a bit of Ranger Distress Rock Candy paint of the edges.

Have a super scrappy day!

How was your weekend?

Me? I had the best time cropping with the ladies at Life Preservers! They are a hoot! I was blown away by the all amazing challenges and make'N takes the DT put together!! I really didn't accomplish much scrappy wise, I was too busy chatting it up on the boards...imagine that?!

I did host another 1 hour sketch challenge using a wonderful sketch from my sweet friend Aymee at A Sketchin' Southernbelle.

If you are looking for some inspiration check out the board and gallery at LP. The ladies have done some incredible work!!

Have a happy scrappy day!
