July Sketch at My Creative Sketches!

Hello!  Come play along with the July Sketch at My Creative Sketches!

I created my layout using the June Limited Edition Kit from My Creative Scrapbook featuring Websters Pages, and some of my dies from Cheery Lynn Designs!
I replaced the blocks with doily die cut and shapes hand cut from the printed paper.
I just adore the Prima burlap butterflies that came in the kit!  I added bling to the chipboard for a little extra pizazz.

June Tutorail for My Creative Scrapbook

Hello!  Manufactures are great about making so many fun matching elements to add to our projects I love to see how I can make those elements stretch, and what I can turn them into! I want to share with you how I took a banner sticker and made it into a fun flag for my layout!
I dug in my stash and found a toothpick for the “flagpole,” black paint, and a black pearl.
A fun tip…Using a Q-tip, I add baby powder to the back of the sticker so the adhesive is no longer sticky making it easier to work with the sticker.

 I painted the toothpick black.

Once the paint has dried I apply a glue line to the back of the sticker and add my toothpick.

Flip over and add peal to the top of the “pole!”

Here it is tucked into my layout!

My Creative Scrapbook - Tutorial

Hello!I'm here today with a tutorial and tip using the June Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook I just love the look of stitching on my layouts! Rather than the usual borders and circles, I wanted to try a fun shape for my background. How about a butterfly?! Perfect for summery photos… or my precious granddaughter!

I started by printing the shape from an online site that shares free coloring pages. Looking through your kids’ coloring books is another great source!
After cutting out the shape, I lightly traced it onto my background paper.
I hand stitched around the shape.
Once the stitching was complete I used a stencil/mask and distress ink to add texture to the butterfly. I added a little color to the background paper by spritzing on a couple colors of mist, using the original shape to cover and protect the stitching and masking.
How fun would it be to use an apple on your school pages, or a pumpkin for fall photos?!

Another fun tip…I love the pattern portions on the top of the chipboard pages.  Not wanting to toss them, I cut the top off with my craft knife,
added some ribbon to the pre-punched holes,
and had a cute little border to add to my layout!
