I created my layout using the June Limited Edition Kit from My Creative Scrapbook featuring Websters Pages, and some of my dies from Cheery Lynn Designs!

 I replaced the blocks with doily die cut and shapes hand cut from the printed paper.

 I just adore the Prima burlap butterflies that came in the kit!  I added bling to the chipboard for a little extra pizazz.

My Creative Scrapbook February Tips

Hello! I'm here with another layout using the February Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

 

 I want to share a quick fun tip! I love the soft elegant look of doilies added to layouts and cards. The Prima has such beautiful ones printed on their packaging that I just couldn’t resist using it!

After carefully removing the flowers, I cut the packaging apart. Use caution when removing the adhesive, the printed doily will rub off! I left the adhesive on. It really doesn’t show up. The area could easily be covered with an embellishment like a butterfly, button, or heart!

The packaging will cut easily with a hand scissors.

I used one of the cut doilies in creating a card!

One more great way to extend the goodies in your kit…It is to beautiful to throw away!

My Family

Hello! One of the things I love about my dies from Cheery Lynn Designs, the patterns work for ANYTHING…guys, girls, layout, card, new and funky, or old and vintage!

When I found this old photo of my husband and his siblings, I knew the Dainty Dutch Deco Frame would be perfect for matting the photo.

After inking and masking the edges of my base cardstock, I started with the Mega Tea Party Doily. I added lace touches to my first layer using Francesca. Wanting just a small dainty touch to the middle layer, I adhered Wedding Garter, leaving only a small portion of the edge sticking out. The last layer being the French Flair Classic Silver Stacker. For a little bit if fun, I added 5 portions from the Pennant Die. Resting near the title is the Small Dragonfly.

Anyone that knows me knows how I love to take my creations and dies outside the box! While playing with my dies this week, I created the larger brown flower using Stacker Flower #5 and a brown grocery bag! I was really pleased with how splendidly the paper was to manipulate! The center of the flower is from Build a Flower #1 Also, arriving on my doorstep was a wonderful package of scrap goodies wrapped in gorgeous hounds tooth tissue paper! I was as excited over the tissue paper as the goodies inside! I cut eight layers of the tissue paper using the smallest Sweet Williams die. Staggering the layers, I attached and fluffed! After adding foliage from Pair of Ferns, Flourish Leaf Strip, Stacker Flower #1 Leaf, and Small Leaves 2; I added flowers cut from the Flower Chain Border and a Medium Rose cut from vellum.

So Sad

Pinky has come to a very difficult decision and I am so sad to say that Dirty Scraps is officially closed. I have enjoyed my time as a designer. Thanks for giving me such a wonderful opportunity, Pinky!!!

What fun!!

What a an awesome crop!! I wasn’t feeling well again, but the challenges and chatter were just the boost I needed!
Here are a couple challenges I posted. Feel free to play along for fun…and don’t forget to share your version with me!

First, I challenged the ladies to complete a layout in an hour using a fun sketch from Helen Croft at Scrap A Little…Thanks Helen!!

I am a super slow scrapper, but I finished this in 45 minutes! I am carving jack-o-lanterns with the kids today. I'll add a few photos of our pumpkins to this later.

Next, When I think fall, not only do I think of beautiful colors, crisp air, and lots of baking, Harvest Moon comes to mind…it must be the farm girl in me with all the late nights out in the field under the bright moon and blanket of stars.

Representing the Harvest Moon, my challenge to you is to use at least one circle on your layout, OR really challenge yourself and create a circle layout! And no, pre-made circle embellishments like buttons and brads don't count. :) Large circles, small circles, make your own embellie circles, stitch a circle, tuck one behind some layers or photo in your design....it must be something you cut/ made!



I am working on my pumkin tutorial and will have it up in a day or two!

How exciting!!

I don’t know about you, but I get sooo tired of the mind games, and the self-made drama that some people create. That is what the new Dirty Scraps Challenge is all about.

Dirty Scraps Challenge #15:
Games are for children right?
I don't think so!! From the playground and kindergarten to high school, and beyond...life's little games.
It's so easy to get caught up in emotional games,
material games, and power games as an adult.
This challenge is all about recognizing those games.
Maybe you have relationship that you are always trying to one up
each other? Or you know a friend who is always trying to drag you into their drama.
Whether we like to admit it or not, every day we face some sort of game.
So go scrap it!!

Before we get to the challenge, I am so sad to say that this is my last reveal for ScrapFit. :( The past year has quickly flown by, and now it is time for me to step down. It has been a wonderful experience! Kelly, thank you so much for this incredible opportunity, I have really enjoyed it!!! Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!

In celebration, the Design Team at Life Preservers has put together a fun blog hop full of challenges (4 to be exact!) and eye candy!!

Lisa and I have teamed up to bring you a fun sketch and the opportunity to celebrate Earth Day! If you follow my blog, you know how I love to use recycled items on my layouts!! With that in mind….

For my example, My recycled items consist of Prima packaging (they have the prettiest packaging ever!) as my photo mat; Hubby’s old blue jeans (heart); and a milk jug (butterflies)!! Yep, really!! I pulled an old Life Preservers kit and compiled all my goodies together based on the sketch found on Lisa’s blog.

March Alternate Kit from Life Preservers

Did you all have a wonderful Easter?! Ours was fab-U-lous! Our son has been overseas for nearly two years. He arrived back in the states last week, and we were able to pick him up at the bus station Easter morning! Coincidence that he arrives on the day of resurrection, the time when we are reminded of Gods love, grace, and forgiveness?! I think not! The lord has shown me all along that this was the path the he had chosen for Brett. Once again, I believe Gods timing is perfect!

As you can imagine, I’ve been a bit preoccupied! However, I did squeeze in a bit of scrappy time! With my scrappylicious new March Kit from LP sitting on my desk, well I just couldn’t resist!! This Kit it is stuffed with marvelous papers and goodies from October Afternoon! I just love OA! *swoon* I was able to put together a couple layouts so far. I have photos printed and papers cut for a little project, hopefully I can get it put together by the end of the week!

I just love this photo!! This photo of my great-grandmother was taken for the paper commemorating her 40+ years of service as the school cook. She insisted that she make homemade bread for the entire student body. The school never bought a loaf of bread until after her retirement….now that is an incredible commitment in my book!! I’ve not yet added journaling, as I want to make sure I get dates and more details before I do!

I created the flour sack by cutting my sack shape out of cardboard, then gluing burlap to the cardboard. Once the glue was dry, I trimmed the burlap around the cardboard.

The bowl was created from a Caribou Coffee Sleeve.

The oven mitt was hand cut from felt.




For the title, I put Crackle Accents over the sticker letters. Once the Crackle Accents had dried, I rubbed Walnut Distress Ink over the cracks to give more of an aged look.

I just love the blue/green combo of these papers! Using my Cuttlebug, I embossed the green cardstock to add more texture rather than adding more embellishments. The clock is cut from one of the OA Wildcards. The little guy is a chipboard shape from Maya Road. I covered it with burlap using the same technique as the flour bag on the layout above.

Catching up!!!

Wow!! Finally taking a quick minute to catch up!

I just love the masculine feel of the Dream Street papers in the February Alternate kit at Life Preservers. I’ve really enjoyed working on some teen boy layouts.

I created the tag by placing a rubon over a chipboard piece. I added an eyelet, threaded some floss through the eyelet, and attached to the knot with a safety pin! I used my sizzix die to cut the star from a cereal box. I spayed with Maya Road Mist and dabbed some Black Soot Distress Stickles found in the kit.



To add texture and go with the teen masculine look, I used the sizzix die to cut stars from denim and wire mesh.

I created this in an 8x8.



I put the Superstar rubon onto the rough side of a transparency and cut out. I dry brushed a little paint onto the backside to make it stand out a bit against the dark background papers. For the star, I cut the star from a cereal box and lightly covered with the Black Soot Distress Stickles found in the kit. When the stickles were dry I covered with a generous amount of Glossy Accents. After waiting for it to dry, I applied a second light coat of distress stickles. It gave some of the sparkles a bit of a floaty look!

I think these little faces are the cutest and would make a really fun card! They are rubons found in the kit! I put Glossy Accents over the faces to make them stand out.

The star paper made me think of graduation. Although it seems that spring will never get here, the time will come before we know it!! This card has a little pocket inside just the right size for money or a gift card!
