another happy scrappy day!

Another happy day in my little scrappy world! First I opened the newsletter from Treasured Scrapbooking to discover that DT member Karen, selected my layout for a lift, (btw, hers is absolutely beautiful) then gave a super nice plug, to my gallery! What a sweet surprise!!http://reallifeinpictures.blogspot.com/2009/07/lift-lane-inspired-by-jodi.html

Later in the afternoon, I find out I’ve been selected to design for scrapFIT!! Yay! I am sooo excited to get started! Yes, I am well aware of the fact that I should shed a few pounds, but that is not what this is all about! This is a new challenge board, where the main objective is to scrap our sporty/outdoorsy photos. Over the years, I have accumulated quite a few photos from wrestling, hunting, 4 wheelers, wrestling, baseball, wrestling, fishing, snowmobiling, oh, and did I mention wrestling?! For some reason, I have a tendency to overlook these photo when I scrap. Hurray for my new incentive!! The first challenge goes up on the board August 1st! Come and check us out!

So, you are wondering how the LP crop went? Awesome!!! The Design Team had some great challenges, and super fab make ‘n takes. If you weren’t able to participate over the weekend, never fear, you can still check out the board and do everything for fun. Seriously, that has to be one of the best crops ever!!! I didn’t get a chance to participate in many of the games or challenges yet, but all in all, it was a productive weekend.

First of all, I finally got the shelves hung and everything put away in my office/scrap room. It almost looks good enough to call a studio!

I did complete two of the challenges. The first was a sketch/recipe where we needed doodling, handwriting, rubon, and a summery photo. My layout doesn’t resemble her sketch much, but it was my inspiration!

The second challenge was to scrap a “bad” photo. The photo I chose is my grandmothers graduation photo. It is actually a photo of a bad scan of an old photo! It is precious, none the less!

I sprayed the flourish with glimmer mist, then double layered with pop dots. The tissue paper flower was made for one of the make ‘n takes.

Check out these cards! These were inspired by Sandra. First, she showed us how to create a flower with mini paper cones….of course I had to add my own twist and create the cones from scalloped circles instead of plain circles…..they are cute though, aren’t they?!

And last but not least, my favorite project of the weekend, this fun cupcake card! I cut my pattern of the cupcake from Doodlecharm Cricut cartridge. I used core’dinations cardstock for the bottom. I embossed the lines, then sanded them. I used brads and stickles for the “sprinkles” on the frosting. I put a small craft wire between the candle and flame to make it stand out just a bit. I found a rubon saying "Savor the day" How fun is that?!

Thanks for stopping by!!
See you later in the week!

Lots to share today!

Toot-ta-doo!!! *running, squealing, waving my hands in the air like a mad woman* Wohoo!!!! Basic Grey accepted another one of my creations!!! I’m soooo excited! I put it together for a contest I participated in last winter, but I never thought until recently to submit it to Basic Grey. Boy, am I glad I did! The link to my Basic Grey gallery is on the side.

The white stitching is done with machine, the brown was done by hand. The cardboard flowers were handcut. I used two different sizes of cardboard for more texture and variety.

For my family and friends unfamiliar with blogging, click on the photo, it will enlarge so you can see the details, and read the journaling.

Here are a few thing I have been working on this week. Again, with Cosmos Cricket Early Bird line. I found the patterns for the pocket card, and the gift card holder in a card book. Aren’t they the cutest patterns?! Quick, easy and fun to make!

I stitched the edges on the pocket and the insert. The tab was created by folding a circle in half and stitching it to the insert. To make the band, I punched the edges, embossed some semi straight lines onto Coredinations cardstock, then lightly sanded. For a little zing, I added some stickles to the flowers on the pattern paper.

I didn’t want the stitching to show, so this time I used a rubon. I trimmed a Velcro circle in half and attached for the closure. The pocket is the perfect size for a gift card. How fun?!

After creating a couple girly type cards, I decided I needed a masculine one too!

Just a reminder….Online crop at Life Preservers starts this afternoon and runs all weekend. Come check out the inspirational challenges, cute make-n’-takes, and participate in the games….accept “steal the RAK!” That’s MINE!!! http://www.lifepreserversclub.com/

Have a fun and safe weekend! Come back early next week and see what I accomplished at the crop!

This Early Bird line from Cosmos Cricket is definitely one of the most inspiring lines I have ever worked with! Combine this line with one of my favorite photos of the Williams grandkids (which was taken about 8 years ago) made for a really fun project! The vines were cut with my cricut expression, the bingo card is a stamp from Lifepreservers Kit Club, the dragonfly is Tim Holtz. I hand sewed the flowers. The red flowers are made from scalloped velvet ribbon, and the lace, well, lace ribbon, of course! I treated myself to a new border punch,Ek Success Binding Edge Edger Punch. Naturally I had to find a way to incorporate it too! It is the one on the bottom of the yellow polka dot. Don't be surprised to see me use this quite a bit in the near future! :o)

Just a reminder… The online crop at Life Preservers Scrapbook Club starts Friday afternoon! The design team always puts on some great games and challenges. Come on over and join in the laughter and fun!

Summer Celebration Crop

Friday, July 10, 2009

Wohoo! I am sooo excited to see the sun shining brightly this morning! The kids have been incredibly accepting of the fact that the rain has left us confined to the house every morning this week. Although we distracted ourselves with the trusty old stand by’s…play dough, puzzles, etc. … I'm not sure who is more eager to head to the sandbox, them or me! :o)

As promised, here is some eye candy. Actually, I'm not sure how sweet it is. I've been in a creative slump the past couple weeks. It appears my mojo has left on summer vacation. I hope it returns soon, it is greatly missed. Somehow things don't always work out on paper like they do in my head! Occasionally they come out better, but unfortunately there are those occasions where you wonder where you went wrong! This is one of those times. Well, you be the judge!

Cuttlebug giveaway!

Wohoo! It has been brought to my attention that Melissa is giving away a cuttlebug later in the month!! Hop on over and leave her a comment to get your name in the drawing!

http://keepsakesbymelissa.blogspot.com/

Thanks a million, Shirley!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! You want to know about me? Well, I am a mother of two terrific boys, Drew-15 and Brett-20. Being a country girl though n' through, I married a dairy man. I am married to my best friend, Dan who treats me like a princess, yep, I admit he spoils me! I am also a daycare mom of 7 little tots! I know you are thing "7?!" Yes, they are alot of work, but they are sooo worth it! I love the dickens out of them!

I was born with craftiness in my blood! Both my parents are very creative, and I guess the "scraps" didn't fall far from the "scissors!" I love to work on anything creative, although scrapbooking is my all-time favorite! I've recently caught the bug for creating cards so we shall see where that leads! ...speaking of bugs, now I think I need a cuttle bug and some embossing folders! :o) Anyone know where there is a good sale?!

Some of my other interests include browsing through antique shops...I love vintage, gardening and canning, baking, reading, and just hanging out with my guys.

I am the shy, quiet type...most of the time :) I am a weird mix of girly girl and tom boy. Pedicures are awesome, but I'm not afraid to dip my pretty toes in a puddle or two! Pretty much, I am just the girl next door.

I want to invite you over to http://www.lifepreserversclub.com/ for some fun and games. We are having a online crop in a couple weeks! The ladies are super sweet!

Thanks for stopping by! Check back in a few days. I am hoping to have to have some eye candy for you before the end of the week!
