Holiday Card

Here we are at the end of another month…unbelievable!!

It is my turn for the weekly challenge at LPSC. I decided it is about time to get a jump start on some holiday cards. I created this one using the October Afternoon papers in the Life Preservers Scrapbook Club August Alternate Kit. The reds and greens in these papers are perfect for a holiday card, I covered the snowflakes with the music paper, and the lacy trim in the kit was a beautiful way to finish it off!

I had fun experimenting with some Bazzill chipboard snowflakes I had on hand. A bit of Distress inks, Distress Picket Fence and Rock Candy Crackle paints, and a dash of glitter…whhhaa la!!

Banner Winner!!

I would like to thank everyone for stopping by during our Dirty Scraps blog hop. Thanks to you, the hop was a huge success!

An extra big thank you for all the sweet comments on my banner and blog!! The winner of the banner is...

Jennyrb78
Congrats Jenny! Contact me with your address so I can get your banner in the mail!!

My tree was inspired by Gabrielle’s Make N Take during the Life Preservers Crop last weekend. I created the tree and decorations during the crop, but wanted to finish it off with a tag on the jar/vase. While browsing the Echo Park blog, I came across vintage label downloads and knew that it was just what my tag needed!

As always, click on the photo to enlarge!

The vase is a taco sauce jar! Using a Pink Paislee canvas label, I cut it to fit inside the label form molded in the glass. I filled the jar with leaves and sand from my sandbox.

I used lots of Ranger Stickles, Crackle Accents, and Distress inks as well as popdots and sanding to add texture to the ornaments. Notice the Core'dinations background in each piece?! Love that stuff!! The ghosts, bats, spiders, skeletons, and mat shapes were cut with my cricut.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Pumpkin Tutorial

We can't have a fall harvest without some pumpkins!!
I have for you, a tutorial to make some cute Pumpkins! I embossed mine for texture, then left them plain so I could use them through Thanksgiving. I think they would be adorable as Jack-o-lanterns too! Feel free to add faces to yours, if you like!

Now lets get started!
Gather some cardstock...orange, green scraps, brown scrap, black scraps if you wish to make a jack-o-lantern; a circle punch, stencil, or circle cutting tool; and your adhesive.

1. Cut 6-10 circles of the same size. More circles will create a fuller pumpkin. I used six 3" circles for my smaller pumpkin, and the larger is eight 4" circles. I cut scallop circles with my cricut and Storybook cartridge.

2. I inked the edges with my Tim Holtz Distress Inks for shading and dimension.

3. If you wish to emboss your circles, do so now. Next, fold your circles in half.

4. Apply adhesive to one half of your circle.

5.Lining up the edges, place the adhesive side to half of a second circle. Add the next circle to the back of the other half.

6. Repeat 4 & 5 until all the circles are attached to each other.

When all the circles are connected, you should have this.

7. To make the stem, I tightly wound a stip of brown cardstock, the glued to the top of the pumpkin. I used 1/4"x3" for the smaller pumpkin, and 3/4"x5" for the larger.

8. I cut the leaves by freehand, inked the edges, and folded for dimension. To create the green curls, I wound narrow strips around a pencil and cut them to desired length. I used a variety of green shades...just because!

9. Apply adhesive to leaves and Curls. Attach to pumpin.

Big blog hop with the girls from Dirty Scraps coming up this weekend!! Make sure you stop by for a chance to win some prizes!

What fun!!

What a an awesome crop!! I wasn’t feeling well again, but the challenges and chatter were just the boost I needed!
Here are a couple challenges I posted. Feel free to play along for fun…and don’t forget to share your version with me!

First, I challenged the ladies to complete a layout in an hour using a fun sketch from Helen Croft at Scrap A Little…Thanks Helen!!

I am a super slow scrapper, but I finished this in 45 minutes! I am carving jack-o-lanterns with the kids today. I'll add a few photos of our pumpkins to this later.

Next, When I think fall, not only do I think of beautiful colors, crisp air, and lots of baking, Harvest Moon comes to mind…it must be the farm girl in me with all the late nights out in the field under the bright moon and blanket of stars.

Representing the Harvest Moon, my challenge to you is to use at least one circle on your layout, OR really challenge yourself and create a circle layout! And no, pre-made circle embellishments like buttons and brads don't count. :) Large circles, small circles, make your own embellie circles, stitch a circle, tuck one behind some layers or photo in your design....it must be something you cut/ made!

I am working on my pumkin tutorial and will have it up in a day or two!

Thanks for stopping by!

Time for Dirty Scraps Challenge #19!
You thought I didn't know....but I do.
We all have those little secrets we run across.
You know those conversations you overhear or the truth comes out and you see someone for who they really are. It's crushing sometimes and other times it is enlightening for sure.
When someone lies to you and you question why in the world they even lied?
When you walk in and find something you were never meant to see....it's all life...it happens.
Life is messy and dirty....go scrap it all!
Here's mine:

My journaling reads: Why? Why did you feel that you couldn’t tell me. You know I would have been there for you. You know that I never ever would have judged you. I would have been by your side supporting you. That’s what best friends do. Yes, I would have been disappointed in your decision but I would have understood. I am way more disappointed that you didn’t trust me enough to tell me yourself.
Seriously?! How could you keep something so important from me?!
Here’s a secret for you. For about 17 years, I’ve known and I’ve been waiting for you to trust me, for you to believe in me, for you to tell me yourself.

Paper Wishes is sponsoring an awesome prize pack for this challenge! Head on over to Dirty Scraps and check it out!

Reminder: Harvest You Memories Crop at Life Preservers October 15th-17th! Grab your photos and adhesive!! Come join us for some scent-sational challenges, color-ific Make ‘n Takes, and fun-tastic games! Again, I will be hosting a 1 hour sketch challenge Saturday afternoon!

Mark your calendars for Dirty Scraps first blog hop on October 23rd & 24th! Each member of the Design Team will be giving away an awesome prize, as well as a grand prize given on the Dirty Scraps blog!

Here is a sneak at the prize I’ll be giving away!

Have a super scrappy day!
