French Fry Purse tutorial

First, I want to send out a huge thank you to everyone that participated in the Blog hop over the weekend!! We had an awesome turnout!! I will be selecting the winner of my cards later this evening.

I have had several requests for a tutorial on how to create the French Fry Box Purses. So, here we go with my first real tutorial!




Supplies: French Fry Box; two coordinating pattern papers, and matching cardstock; 8” ribbon; accessories; adhesive; scissors; pencil; hole punch (I used my Big Bite)

Step 1:
Open your fry box, gently pull apart the adhesive so that it will lie flat.



Step 2:
Trace the fry box onto the back of your paper and cut out.



Step 3:
Apply adhesive and attach the paper to the box.



Step 4:
Glue the box back into shape. My box was a little bit taller on the backside so I cut it off to make the box even all the way around.



Step 5:
Cut an oval from your cardstock. A 5 ¼ “ oval fit my box perfectly. I used Core`dinations cardstock. Love that stuff!! I used the Cricut and my Storybook Cartridge to create a scallop oval. I then sanded the edges of the oval for a bit of distressing

Step 6:
Cut a slightly smaller oval from your coordinating patter paper. Again, using my Cricut, I cut a 4 ½” oval using the Plantin’ Schoolbook Cartridge.




Step 7:
Attach your ovals together. I stitched mine for a fun finished look.


Step 8:
Score your oval leaving the width of the box between score lines. I scored mine at 2 ¼” and 3 ¼”



Step 9:
Punch holes to thread the ribbon for the handle. Using the Crocodile Big Bite, I punched my holes ¾” from each edge.



Step 10:
Thread the ribbon through the hole and tie a knot to hold the ribbon in place.



Step 11:
Apply adhesive to the area that will be the back of the purse, and attach the oval cover.



Step 12:
Apply a closure to the front flap of the purse. I used a Velcro dot.



Step 13:
Accessorize! For this purse, I applied a vintage button.
